The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s novels ‘Tales of Dunk and Egg’. It takes place between the events of ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘Game of Thrones’. They are having a funny conversation while looking at a military camp. “I want to be in a place like this” says Egg to which Dunk replies “You’re in a place like this right now”.
A different Westeros journey:
This clip gives us a sense of the humor and fun that goes into Dunk and Egg’s friendship. Their journey will be very different from other TV shows in the ‘Game of Thrones’ franchise. The main reason for this is the time period and the tone of the series. The series takes place after the ‘Dance of the Dragons’ war but those events are still fresh in people’s minds. This will be a unique period in the ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoffs.
Upcoming Targaryen Era:
‘A Night of the Seven Kingdoms’ will air on HBO next year (January 2026). This is the first of two ‘Game of Thrones’ shows next year. The second is the third season of ‘House of the Dragon’ which will be out in summer 2026. The story of this new series will also be connected to the Targaryen history through Aegon Targaryen and Dunk. Peter Claffey plays Dunk.
