Mithra Mandali iBOMMA - Friendship, love and caste discrimination are not new in Telugu cinema. But to combine them and show them in a way that reflects the lives of youth, that’s the only artistic effort. The film ‘Mithra Mandali iBOMMA’ starring Priyadarshi, Niharika NM, Vishnu Oy, and Rag Mayur is one such attempt.

Dude iBOMMA

Written and directed by debutant Vijayender S and produced by Bunny Vas, this small budget comedy drama was released following the formula of ‘Jathi Ratnalu’. The film released in Telugu states on October 16 has got mixed response. In the 2 hours 18 minutes runtime, some moments are laugh out loud funny but rest are boring. Rating: 2.25/5.

Telusu Kada iBOMMA - ‘Telusu Kada’ Review: A Bold Journey Between Love and Emotions!

The story is very simple. In a small town called Janglipatnam, a young man called Chaitanya (Priyadarshi) lives a life of daily fights, humor and petty targets with his friends – Vishnu (Vishnu Oy), Rag (Raag Mayur) and Prasad (Prasad Behara). Both of them are clerks in a police station but they prioritize friendship over work. One day this group meets a girl called Sukhdev (Niharika NM). She is the daughter of a big politician and falls for Chaitanya without any caste barriers.

When this love affair comes to light, fights and drama begins in the political backdrop. The entire group of friends gets caught in this mess and face the situations with the strength of friendship. In the climax caste discrimination and social problems are touched upon a little but they lack depth.Priyadarshi once again showed his acting talent in the performances. He looks comfortable in this role after ‘Court’ – comedy timing, emotional shades are all delivered well.

Niharika NM gets a good mark as a debut heroine. A social media star, she impresses with her screen presence but her dialogue delivery needs a little polish. Vishnu Oy, Rag Mayur, Prasad Behera bring life to the group dynamics. Satya in particular appears as an ‘important character’ and makes you laugh in every scene.

Cameos by Vennela Kishore and VTV Ganesh are also highlights. R.R. Dhruv’s music gives a youthful vibe but Siddharth SJ’s camera work is weak in green screen shots. PK’s editing is repetitive in the second half.

Technically this film declares itself as a ‘storyless story’. That’s right – the focus is on the fun the characters have over the plot. But due to the lack of sharp writing the humor only works out in a few flashes. The police station comedy, the ‘Pulihora’ scene in the temple and Satya’s dialogues are memorable.

The rest feels like a Jabardasth skit. There are social messages like caste discrimination and friendships but they are on the surface level. Director Vijayender KV has used his experience of working with directors like Anudeep and Kalyan Shankar but it lacks finish.
